Game on Diet Day 1

Here is how my first day of the diet went woke up had a boiled egg this gives me my protein and my fat, and an apple with a ton of water.  I then proceed to my workout did the 30 Day Shred with Jillian, which is a fantastic little workout.  It has 3 levels each one progressively harder, in each level you do 3 circuits of her workout.  You start with 3 min strength training, then 2 min of cardio and 1 min of abs.  It is an intense workout but is only 20 min, and I am soo sore the next day.  Then after my workout with Jillian I did some additional ab workouts.  I continued to drown myself in the 3 liters of water I am supposed to drink.  I went 3 hours between my first and second meals,  I then had an orange and a string cheese with a couple almonds.   I continued drowning in the water, and for lunch had a pork loin chop (at least part of one since it had to be the size of my palm), some spinach leaves with some cucumbers and I used part of my 100 free calories towards some dressing.  Then continuing in my drowning I finished my water about 3pm (which worked out perfectly for me not being up all night peeing.)  I seemed to spend a lot of my day drowning and peeing.  I went 4 hours between my last 2 meals, they were a fried egg and toast for the first, and a big salad with dressing some cucumbers and a boiled egg.  I found about 2 I got hungry for a treat, and spent most of the day with a headache from lack of caffeine.  I am sooo glad that I accomplished day 1 with all my points.  I made sure to keep in contact with my team and an opposing team, I stuck to my healthy habits I ate all my meals with no snacking, got in my workout, got alll my water and got my 7 hrs of sleep!!  Hurray for a perfect day.

Healthy Challenge GAME ON

GAME STARTS Monday January 10, 2010!!!

The best part about this is there is a team of people who will be counting on you, so you will be motivated to do your best.  Depending on how many sign up will depend on how many teams we have.

Okay everyone 4 weeks of a getting healthy (hoping for me that includes a little weight loss) CHALLENGE!!! I need enough people to have 2 teams. Here are the rules:

Each day you have the opportunity to earn 100 points: a perfect day would be something like this...

30 meal points (6 points per meal) for eating 5 fully sanctioned meals with no snacking in between. I will provide the list of foods in a bit.

20 Exercise points for getting your butt moving for 20 minutes, this could be anything from a nice walk to a full fledged workout, to dancing around the house with your kids for 20 consecutive minutes!

10 points for drinking 3 liters (yes 3 liters) of water per day, your skin will love you.

15 sleeps points for getting at least 7 hours of sleep that night (or atleast be lying in bed trying to sleep 7 hours before you know you have to be up in the morning.)  Those with babies who wake are excused (you really have no control over this)

20 Transformation points - you get 10 for getting rid of a bad habit and making sure it stays gone daily, and 10 points for adding in a new healthy habit and making sure it is added daily.

5 communication points for being in contact with at least one teammate and at least one opponent each day (this includes phone, facebook, e-mails and texts)

Here is the best part...

Each week you get one full day off where you don't have to do any of the healthy things!! Then you also get on meal off.  However I found it was easiest to stick to the diet even on my day off... the first week is by far the hardest, but after you get past all the addictions and cravings you realize how great you feel.

Bonus points can be earned. You earn 10 points by turning in your weekly scores on time, this will be Each Monday morning by 10AM, you will want to e-mail me your sheet.

You can also earn a bonus each week equaling 20% of your points earned for the week for losing 1% of your body weight.

Bonus Points can also be earned by doing additional workouts.  If you get in an additional 60 minutes over the course of the week you can earn an additional 20 points

PENALTIES:
10 point snacking penalty for snacking between meals on anything except celery
20 point collusion penalty if any player suggest to any other player a compromise of integrity.
25 point per portion alcohol penalty a portion equals any amount of alcohol up to 6 oz wine, 12 oz beer, or 1.5 oz hard liquor. You may consume alcohol on your day off. If at any point during the game a player fails to earn their weight-loss bonus that player then looses all alcohol privileges for the game.

Last year we had a problem with soda (as it is not part of the approved foods list it is not allowed, not even diet)  You may have it on your day off and that is it.  Otherwise you would forfiet your food points for that meal or you would be hit with a snacking penalty if it is between meals.

How to win this game:
At the end of the week your points are turned in and an average is taken for each team, and then a running total is kept for the game until the end of 4 weeks. At the end of 4 weeks the team with the highest score wins.

Exercise

So all in all if you can't tell yet, my goal is to share simple ways to overall health and wellness.  I obviously have a flair for the alternative side of things, but I just want to be healthy and feel good and share that with everyone that I can.  Well the last couple of weeks I have been trying really hard to stay on an exercise routine.  I was doing a little P90X, but found that dedicating 1-1 1/2 hrs everyday was a little more than I could currently commit to as I have a full time job as mom which includes (taxi service, laundry, maid, chef, accountant, daycare, teacher, landscaper, and nurse to name a few)  Plus I really do have a job running my small alternative health care business.  So 20 minutes a day was really enticing when I came across Jillian Michaels 30 day shred.  In addition to having 3 different levels, it is really only 20 minutes, and I sweat like a whore in church, so I feel like actually did something.  Needless to say the morning after my first workout I couldn't' get out of bed I was so sore... okay so I did eventually find my way out of bed, but I was sore.  So I wanted to share with you all, I purchased this fantastic at home workout on Amazon.com (are you surprised this is where I get everything!!)  What are you waiting for go get it ordered and shred with me!!  I have done it 5 days of the last 7 and have lost 3 lbs. (kind of watching what I eat but nothing extreme).  Really only $10.99, this is an awesome price since you would pay at least that for a gym membership (that you probably won't use because you don't have time, don't want to leave your house... you know how it goes.)  This workout combines a warm-up, and then 3 circuts of 6 minutes  3 minutes strength training 2 minutes cardio, and 1 minute abs and then a nice cool-down.  According to Jillian this is the most effective way to exercise, and after the workout she put me through I believe her.
