Who are you?

After a really fun weekend with some friends I didn't know as well as I thought, I had some deep stuff to ponder upon my arrival home.  One of the friends mentioned that she learned a lot about me and that I am a totally different person when I really let loose.  This got me thinking about the all consuming question "Who am I?"  In our early 20's we are so set on finding who we truly are, and I honestly think most of us think we have that figured out.  I know at the ripe old age of 21, 22 I really thought I knew.  But as I have gotten older it has changed which has me wondering do we really truly know who we are, and are we adapting to our changing life, and are we loosing our true self in our husbands, children, family, job, and community obligations?  How is it in life we can keep track and keep balance of our true nature?  I think that good family and  friends that helps us to remember who we are is key.  Those people in your life that don't let you loose yourself in a title or an obligation are the ones you want by your side.  I also think that keeping a journal of your life experiences and deepest feelings helps as well.  Somehow getting it all down on paper or out in the open is such a freeing experience.  I hope that I can always keep in check who I really am and remember to keep on searching, because the more we search the more we learn that there is much about our true nature that we did not know before.

No Bake Energy Balls

No-Bake Energy Balls
Carol Lawson
Ingredients:
2 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup cranberries
1/4 cup raw pumpkin seeds (pepitas)
1/4 cup raw sunflower seeds
1/4 cup cacao nibs
1 teaspoon cinnamon powder or one drop doTERRA Cinnamon EO
1/2 cup almond butter or peanut butter
1/3 cup agave nectar
1/4 cup brown rice syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cocoa powder or shredded coconut to coat balls
Directions:
1. Combine oats, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, cacao nibs and cinnamon powder (If using Cinnamon Oil add later to the wet ingredients) in large bowel. Set aside.
2. In a different bowel, combine almond butter, agave nectar, brown rice syrup, and vanilla (Cinnamon Oil) until well mixed.
3. Pour wet mixture into dry ingredients and stir well.
4. Slightly moisten hands with water and roll dough into 1-inch balls. Coat balls in shredded coconut or cocoa powder (the will look like truffles!). Store in the fridge. If you can wait, they taste better the next day! You can also freeze and have it handy, they take 15 mins. to defrost!
NOTE: Making the balls is fun but can take some time. You can do this recipe in 10 mins. or less if you pour the mixture into a square dish (8×8)and press firmly with your fingers to settle it. Sprinkle with your choice of coating. Place it in freezer for 30 mins. and cut in bite size pieces or in shape of a bar. Or place in fridge for 1 hour and cut. ALSO, feel free to create your own version of it, mix and match ingredients, try different flavors: Raisins, nuts, other seeds, flax seeds, other nut butters,
honey, barley malt syrup, other coatings, use whatever you have or like!

More on Stress

Some exercises to try for help in beating stress:
  • Interval exercises will be the most effective when dealing with stress.  Try a short jog followed by some sit-ups, then another short jog followed by some push-ups and a final jog followed by some lunges.
  •  If you feel out of control try rythmic exercises - as these types of exercises tend to help you clear yourmind. Some of those might be running/swiming/cycling/elliptical training.
  •  If you are wanting to focus and center yourself, try pilates, yoga, or stretching exercises.
  • Angry or aggressive personalities should try beating out that aggression by some boxing, kick boxing, martial arts, a great self defense class or other combat type exercises.

Now that you understand the fantastic ways that exercise will help to fight stress try it out.  See if a little exercise makes a difference for you, there is nothing to lose.  Except maybe a few pounds, but who wouldn't want that anyway!!  As with any exercise, consult your physician before beginning, and remember to listen to your body.

Foot Zoning

I get the question a lot "how does foot zone therapy work?"  well it works with the body's meridian and nervous system.  All the nerve endings and meridian lines end in the feet.  So by massaging the feet in the manner of the zone you will open up blockages in the meridian lines and also stimulate the nerve endings.  Through this method we help stimulate the body to heal itself.  So really the zoning is not what does the healing, it is the body, the
zoning is just the tool to helpyou heal naturally without the side effects of drugs.

Things that I notice after a zone:
  • Better sleep
  • more energy
  • It has helped me with my own fertility
  • It has helped me clear a cold/sinus infection
  • It has helped me to loose weight
  • It has helped me clear some emotions that were weighing me down
  • It has helped me clear headaches
I know there are others who have had other results with zoning, but I thought I would share what I personally have experienced.  I hope you can all have the opportunity to get a zone and help your body heal or build up your immune system so that illness and disease don't find you, and if they do they are easier to heal from.

Stress and Essential oils.

Here are some recommendations from doTERRA's Dr. Hill -

Stress is a daily exercise for nearly all of us.  Diffusing or wearing citrus essential oils like wild orange or citrus bliss can greatly reduce your own personal stress levels.  I recommend a daily approach to stress reduction using your favorite essential oil. Mixing Balance and Wild Orange is refreshing. Adding a drop of Peppermint creates the perfect balance between stress reduction and improved mood.

I love mixing my wild orange and peppermint, they are a fantastic combo.  And I have actually seen myself be more productive and happy when I use the citrus bliss blend.  LOVE IT!
