New Years Resolutions Update
I figure if I commit to updating all of you on how my new years resolutions are coming along I will be much better at accomplishing them. 2 months into the year and I am finding it hard to keep up with some of my goals, but I am doing better than I would if I had not set a goal.
Husband goal - dedicate one night a week to date night and take turns with taking each other out, the goal is to make sure there are 52 dates this year!!!
January we did great, February has been a different story, the last 2 weeks we have been crazed with school schedules and late work nights. So needless to say the date night has struggled the last two weeks. Plan to get on track: Make the plan in advance so we don't let our schedules overtake our lives.
Mom Goal -Read to my kids for 20 minutes at least 4 days a week. This one has been pretty easy as I have read to them before bed each night. In fact I bet we are actually getting more than this in a week.
House Goal - Declutter my home for 15 minutes every day. This one I have really slacked on. I need to just plan on doing this at a set time. My plan for this is going to be to declutter for 15 minutes after the kids go to bed. That way they are not making another mess somewhere else in the house.
Physical Goal - I would like to run a minimum of 260 miles this year. (I know that for those of you who run this isn't a huge amount, but it is big for me!)
So far so good, this one is coming along nicely. So far this year I have ran 41 miles. If I average 21.9 miles for the rest of the months this year I will easily hit my goal.
Mental Goal - My friend Amy did a similar one last year (hers was to read a book a week for the year 52 books in a year wow!!) I would like to commit to reading 26 adult books (no not naughty books, but not children's books like green eggs and ham). 2 months in and I am down 9 books. I need to average just over 2 books a month to get my goal, I am way past that, I may surpass this goal.
So far this year I have read
Vampire Academy Signature Edition: A Vampire Academy Novel I liked it.
Frostbite (Vampire Academy, Book 2) I liked it more.
Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy, Book 3) I loved it!!
Blood Promise (Vampire Academy, Book 4) I Loved it more
{THE MEN'S HEALTH BIG BOOK OF FOOD & NUTRITION} BY Weber, Joel (Author )The Men's Health Big Book of Food & Nutrition(Paperback) This one was super interesting and all about the food we eat and how it can help us in our plans for weigh loss and fitness.
Joyful Mother of Children: The Magic and Mayhem of Motherhood This was great for me to read and realize I am not the only mom out there who has her moments (granted I only have 2 kids and the author of this book had like 14 or something) But it was a great book that inspired me to not be so down on myself about motherhood, it is hard work.
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Network Marketing Professionals This one was good for me to listen to for my business, and really could apply to about any business.
The New Rules of Marketing and PR: How to Use Social Media, Blogs, News Releases, Online Video, and Viral Marketing to Reach Buyers Directly, 2nd Edition This one was another one for my business, I am not completely finished with this one, but getting close.
Spirit Bound (Vampire Academy, Book 5) I have just started this one so I am not even close to done yet, but will be soon.
Spiritual Goal - Commit to regular scripture study (I am going to set my goal of 1 hr a week) I am hoping to have 52 hours logged by the end of the year, and thus far I am at 0. I am definately going to need to step it up here. So far I have logged 5 hours, this isn't tooo bad but considering I need 52 I need to step it up a bit.
Nutritional Goal - track my food intake so I don't overeat. I would really love to say that I am going to give up sugar for the year, or eat more veggies (but I am being realistic) I bet if i track my food intake I end up eating much less sugar and more veggies just because I will be aware. I did great in January and havent so much as opened my sparkpage in February. Time to get back on track with this one. I have been eating pretty good, but I know that I can do better. So starting today I am going to get back on and track my food.
Fun Goal - I would like to make sure I am creating something new each month of the year so by the end of the year I should have finished at least 12 creative projects... Wow 2 months have gone by and I have not crafted.... I did look up some very cute ideas, so maybe I will have to get 3 projects done in March!!
Work Goal - to have a functioning website and not just a blog. So that is my new work goal. I have been doing some research and finding out what is the best hosting site for this. So my new work goal is to have a wonderful high traffic website by the end of the year. This is one I am still trying to work out, I have met with a few glitches along the way, so I am working those out, but still moving forward.
How are you doing with your goals/resolutions? I would really love to hear what others are doing and how they are coming along. If you aren't making your goals what is your plan to get back on track?

Positive Thought for The Day
Success in the modern world takes far more than knowledge. It takes stability, stamina, level headedness, courage, a desire to learn, and the ability to make good use of one's learning.

Fun Fact
Did you know that a little trip down memory lane can unleash so many happy feelings. Spending just approximately 8 minutes a day for 3 days has proven to help you be more optimistic for as long as 4 weeks!!! So train your brain to look on the bright side, and have a few minutes a day of reminiscing all the happy memories you can think of.
Essential oil Experiment
Okay don't be fooled even with all the wonderful things I have in my bag of tricks such as essential oils, foot zoning and herbs to name a few, we still come down with the occasional illness at our house. Tonight my oldest little boy has a bit of a fever, so I took his temp, 101.6,
applied my favorite fever reducing oils, Lavender and Peppermint,
and waited about 45min to an hour to retemp, and here are the results.

Fun Fact
It's not that thin women are immune to emotional eating, says Kara Gallagher, PhD, a weight loss expert based in Louisville. But they tend to recognize when they're doing it and stop.
Copy Them: Add the word 'Halt' to your vocabulary, says Gallagher. More than just a command (as in stop eating that entire sleeve of cookies), it's an acronym that stands for Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired—the four most common triggers for emotional eating.
If you're truly hungry, choose a balanced snack, such as a handful of nuts, to tide you over until your next meal. But if you're angry, lonely, or tired, seek an alternative calorie-free solution to your emotional need. Blow off steam by going for a run or just jumping around—the heartbeat boost will help dissipate your anger. Lonely? Call a friend, e-mail your kid, or walk to the park or mall. Being around others will make you feel more connected to your community (even if you don't bump into anyone you know). If you're tired, for heaven's sake, sleep!

Final Update
Okay so I think our biggest looser in the 4 weeks was a whopping 15lbs!!! I had one person loose 13, and a total of almost 10 inches!!! So was it worth it, of course, everyone lost and everyone had a good time. The key to it is making sure to have teams so you are accountable to someone. I know that everyone felt healthier and better about themselves, and also found themselves not really wanting to break some of these healthy habits. We are about 1 week past the last day and I have kept up with the water habit, have slacked on the exercise, and have done sooo much better with the choices of food I pick for myself. So start a game with your friends and get healthy.
