Fun Fact
-Need a way to fall back to sleep easily:
Try some lavender or orange essential oils to help with insomnia.
Stop lying in bed thinking about all that you have to do, this won’t help you sleep. Instead, try a calming yoga pose: Lying on your back (in bed of course) with palms upward and feet hip width apart, inhale deeply and count to five, then exhale slowly counting to eight. Repeat up to 20 times.
Deep breathing can also help to relax you to sleep, lay on your back and breath deeply enough that you move your belly. It is called belly breathing, and is great for anxiety as well. The deep breaths will help to relax your body and help you fall to sleep easily.
Try reading, studies show that this will help distract you from the anxiety that might be keeping you awake but also is a workout for your eyes making them more tired and drowsy.
Warm milk. I know this is what your grandma used to do right, well it works. Milk contains tryptophan an amino acid that your body converts to serotonin and melatonin. Both of these hormones help to improve sleep. Adding a little honey to your warm milk will help relax your nervous system as well.
Try keeping some peanuts nearby. Sometimes all you need is a little food in your tummy to put you back to sleep.
Soft jazz or classical music or even an orchestral melody will help relax your body and put you to sleep by lowering your heart and respiratory rates.
Me Time Monday
Last night we had a blast playing games with my family. I am a huge lover of games, always have been, probably always will be. I just think it is probably one of the funnest ways to enjoy each others company and interact. We played one of the funnest games I have played in a long time last night called Word on the Street. It is a riot. The letters are all lined up down the center of the board and you have two teams you pick a card such as "A Beach" then you have to come up with a name of a beach and each letter you use gets pulled one space per use toward you, There are two spaces on each side of the center of the board, so if we had drawn the card "a beach" we could use myrtle as our beach, and then we would pull the letters m-y-r-t-l all one space towards us. There are no vowels, however you can still use vowels in your word you just don't get credit for them. The team that gets 8 letters off the board first wins. It was so much fun that we played it 3 times!! They also have word on the street junior, this would be a perfect game to help teach your children how to spell. This was time for me, and it was fantastic! Not to mention the great company and food that came with this fun night.

Positive Thought for The Day
Any words you speak have a frequency, and the moment you speak them they are released into the Universe. The law of attraction responds to all frequencies, and so it is also responding to the words that you speak. When you use very strong words, such as "terrible", "shocking" and "horrible" to describe any situation in your life, you are sending out an equally strong frequency, and the law of attraction must respond by bringing that frequency back to you.
~Rhonda Byrne
The law is impersonal, and simply matches your frequency. Do you see how important it is for you to speak strongly about what you want, and not to use strong words about what you don't want?

"May today there be peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where
you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that
are born of faith in yourself and others. May you use the gifts that you
have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be
content with yourself just the way you are. Let this knowledge settle into
your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and
love. It is there for each and every one of us."

Today I am so grateful for teachers. They are some of the hardest working individuals as a group that I know. They are overworked and underpaid, and they help the entire community, I know that is a job I don't have the patience for, and so I am grateful to know there are those that do. I am also grateful to know that I don't have to teach my children alone because I know I couldn't do near that job a teacher can. I am also grateful for all the teachers I have had in my life that cared. They influence our lives so much, and I appreciate it.

Benefits:
• Provides calcium equivalent to 8 oz. of milk.
• Supports the health of bones and teeth.
• Provides 75% of the American Academy of Pediatrics new vitamin D3 guidelines.
Sunshine Heroes Calcium Plus D3 [Structural]. Lifelong calcium intake is essential for the development and maintenance of healthy bones and teeth. Obtaining adequate calcium is especially important during childhood and adolescence, when bones are growing and developing. Each serving of Sunshine Heroes Calcium Plus D3 provides 300 mg of calcium, equivalent to an 8-ounce serving of milk. It also provides 140 mg of phosphorus, which works closely with calcium in the body to build strong bones and teeth.
Vitamin D helps the body maintain healthy levels of calcium and phosphorus. Calcium can only be absorbed by the body when vitamin D is present. Vitamin D also plays many important roles beyond bone health. Recent scientific evidence suggests that vitamin D plays a vital part in maintaining innate immunity. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has recently doubled its recommendation for the minimum amount of vitamin D that children should get daily.
The new guidelines recommend at least 400 international units (IU) daily. Most children don’t drink enough milk to provide adequate levels of vitamin D. The AAP states that the best way to ensure that children receive adequate vitamin D is through supplementation. Vitamin D3 is the form of vitamin D that is produced by our own bodies in response to sunlight, and is considered to be the most bioactive form. One serving of Sunshine Heroes Calcium Plus D3 provides 300 IU of vitamin D3.

Month of Graditude
Today I am thankful for family time. With my husband working full-time and in school working on a master's degree, and me working and teaching classes part-time we don't get to see a whole lot of each other as a whole family, but Sunday is one day that we do get that and I am very grateful for it. It is really nice sometimes to sit and play a game with the kids and just relax and enjoy each other instead of being on the run and going somewhere.

Fun Fact
Turns out, research shows that thin people simply don't think about food the same way as—well, the rest of us. "Thin people have a relaxed relationship with food," explains David L. Katz, MD, an associate professor adjunct in public health at Yale University. "Those who are overweight, however, tend to be preoccupied by it. They focus on how much or how often they eat, or attach labels like good and bad to certain foods. As a result, mealtime is always on the brain."

Holiday Bootie Buster Challenge
This is from the blog Runtothefinish.blogspot.com A great challenge to help us all not gain 50 lbs with all the wonderful holiday treats that are coming for us. This is the post direct from her blog, but you will need to go to her blog to sign up for it. just follow my link at the first of this post.
Holiday Bootie Buster Challenge
The 3rd annual Holiday Bootie Buster Challenge is here!! We have had over 120 participants for the last two years and I expect even more this year. The goal of HBBC is to provide a little additional motivation to stay active and make good choices throughout the holiday season. The stats say the average American may gain at LEAST 5lbs…but even if you gain 2lbs and don’t lose it that adds up each year.WHY PARTICIPATE??
A. We had an awesome time! The involvement from everyone and encouragement is amazing.
B. It kept folks from gaining holiday poundage
C. Some seriously good prizes…Sweaty Bands, Once Again Nut Butter, Lara bar, New Balance Shorts, Oiselle Running tank, CEP socks, green teas, yoga bag…to name a few…more details to come.
HBBC Rules
1 Point per mile (run/walk/snowshoe)
1 Point per 3 miles biked
1 Point per 20 minutes of weight lifting, Pilates, yoga, stretching or abs
1 Point per 15 minutes of another form of cardio (i.e. kick boxing, aerobics elliptical)
1 Per day where you reach a minimum of 7 servings of fruits and veggies
Challenge will run from Nov 20 to Jan 7…this helps to cover you for the major holidays!
Additional points: Because I am all about taking care of your entire mind, body, soul connection there will be additional posts/questions where you can earn points throughout the challenge.
STANDARD FAQS
Examples of counting points: 1 hour cross training class of weights and cardio: 2 points weights and 2 points cardio.
1 hour cross country skiing: 4
Why is it weighted towards running? The majority of readers are runners looking for added holiday motivation…and it’s my blog. :)
I don’t have a blog can I participate: Yes, but as noted in tracking points there must be some method for us to see what you’re doing. Daily Mile, Facebook, etc.
TRACKING POINTS
Keep track of your points through whatever means you'd like...just be honest. I will provide a Google Doc for everyone to enter their points and see how others are doing. The upside is it can inspire you and the downside is some folks get tempted to cheat. Based on an issue we had in year one, I will probably need to ask for proof of some sort if the winner blows us all out of the water.
PRIZES Prizes are clearly the second best part of this challenge…the first is eating those holiday treats and knowing you won’t be putting on a single pound to start 2011. Complete prize details will be coming soon. Possible ways to win:
1. Total points prize
2. Randomly drawn winners

Me Time Monday!!
Last night I went out on the town with a fun friend Terra, we went to dinner at the Olive Garden, which in-case you were looking for a fabulous no fail gift for someone on your list for Christmas, a gift card to olive garden would would be great!!!
Then we proceeded to the cheap movie where we watched the movie You Again with Kristen Bell, Kristin Chenoweth, Odette Yustman, Sigourney Weaver, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Betty White. Such a cute show. I won't give any spoilers, but it is a great comedy about how crazy us women can be especially when we are a little jealous or stuck in the past. Great chick flick!
It is so refreshing for me to get a night out on the town and have the ability to just be me. I usually walk away feeling refreshed and ready to face my duties and be a better Mom and Wife. I am so grateful that I have a husband that understands this and will watch the kiddos so I can have some ME TIME :)

Fabulous Food Friday!
Okay so I love to cook, and I love even more to bake (even though I know that all the sugar and sweets are horrible for you). So here is my compromise, I will be posting on this blog some of my favorite healthy recipes, along with a few of my not so healthy recipes and I will warn you in advance if it is a not so good for you recipe, and I will try to post more healthy recipes than non-healthy recipes. Also if you have anything fantastic that you would like to share with us all that would be great too. I will try to post pictures when I remember to take them, but don't be mad if I forget... sometimes when I am cooking away I forget that someone might want to take a peek at what I am doing. Also some of my recipes are a make as you go, and I don't have exact ingredient amounts, but I will try to be as specific as possible. Be patient with me and I will try to remember to take pics as I go.
This week the recipe is one I don't have a picture for, but have to share with you because it was fantastic, and I think pretty healthy.
Chicken Quesadillas!!!
Ingredients you will need
Olive oil (a little for the pan to cook your chicken in) approx 1 Tbsp
Chicken breasts/tenders 1 breast per quesadilla
Onion
Low fat/fat free sour cream 1 Tbsp per quesadilla
Your favorite salsa about 1/8 cup per quesadilla
Bunch or two of Cilantro (I used half for my mix, and the other half to top)
Weight watchers reduced fat mexican style shredded cheese (I used about 1/2 a bag for 3 quesadillas)
Salt & pepper to taste
Tortillas preferably wheat
Cut your chicken into 1inch cubes, chop your onion, and in olive oil over medium heat in a frying pan. Season to your liking with salt, pepper, and any other seasonings you typically use (taco seasoning would be great although I didn't think of it this time). When the chicken is cooked through mix it in a bowl with the sour cream, salsa, cilantro and cheese (don't use all your cheese). Take and in the frying pan place a tortilla spread a small amount of cheese on the bottom, and add the chicken mixture over top, then top with another tortilla. Warm until the cheese is melted, and flip. Top with additional sour cream, cilantro, and salsa if you need, but I didn't think it needed anything else. Serve with a big salad, and you have a fantastic healthy well rounded little meal. One thing I thought would taste great after the fact was to add black beans to your chicken mixture. I will for sure be trying this next time. One thing to keep in mind the more sour cream and cheese you add the less healthy this little meal gets, so make sure to use those items in moderation, and I will try to have more exact measurements for you with the next recipe. Would love to hear what you have made this week, any suggestions you might have, and if you try this recipe, what did you think.

A Veteran is someone who at one point in their life wrote a blank check
payable to the United States of America for an amount up to, and
including, their life. That is beyond honor, and there are way too many
people in this country who no longer remember that fact. If you are in

This is my brother Jesse and his girlfriend Sam.
Today I am thankful for my brother Jesse!!! He is currently active duty army, served one tour in Iraq, where he was in a road side bombing accident. He has sustained nerve damage through his arm, hearing loss, and more nerve damage through his leg. Not to mention being witness to so many tragic incidents. I know that our soldiers have memories that will haunt them for a lifetime, and I am grateful that they are willing to sacrifice it all just for us and our freedoms. Remember that you live in the greatest country in the world, and always remember those who have died, served, and are currently serving. And remember them in your prayers, they need all the help they can get. I am proud that he is my brother, and for the sacrifices he has made for our country. I love you buddy!!!

Today I am thankful for my job!!! I love what I do, and am grateful that my husband has a job that he loves as well. There are so many who don't have that luxury right now.
Fun Fact
Did you know that your nose dries out in colder weather, and any crack in this delicate nasal passage gives bacteria an fast pass to your system. The solution!! Eat more sweet potatoes, they are rich in vitamin A, and this will help boost the cell health of your nasal passage and help the mucus membranes stay moist according to Susan M. Kleiner Ph.D., R.D.
The recommended daily dose is one sweet potato daily or if you are like me and don't particularly love sweet potatoes, try 1/2 C carrots, 3/4 C spinach, or 1 1/2 C squash to get the same vitamin A benefit.

Fun Fact
Vacuum fresh filter
Have a HEAPA or other filtered vacuum? Put a few drops of your favorite oil on the filter and pop it back in. Air flowing through the filter dispels amazing aroma throughout the room, and kills any nasty microbes or bacteria that might be hanging out in your vacuum.
Try It Tuesday
Okay like I said I am hoping to get some fun things up and going on the blog each day of the week (except Sunday, everyone needs a day off). So this week I have tried a new essential oil combination. I have really been loving it and noticing it has helped me a ton. As a perfume I have been wearing Citrus Bliss, and Elevation. The combination of the two oils is heavenly, and I have noticed that it has helped give me a mood boost (and with winter right around the corner I think we all could use that), a wonderful energy boost, and also a little help with my mood swings. Plus I have had a lot of compliments on my fragrance!!! So here they are, two fantastic products you might try if you have the need.

Today I am so very thankful for education. I am one who really enjoys learning, and highly values education. I am grateful for all the opportunities that have found me and allowed for me to continuously further my education. I am also thankful for the education that my husband has, and is continuing as well. And lastly I am thankful for all the teachers out there who take the time to really be a role model, mentor, and teacher.

Me Time Monday!!
Each day of the week I will be featuring something new and fun, this is to motivate me to write and get my blog really going. So every Monday will be me time monday. I think it is sooo very important to find time for yourself in life, if you don't what is the fun. So each week I am going to tell you about what I did that week to take time just for me, and would love it if you would share with me what you are all doing for you.
So last week, for me, I indulged in a little craft project, don't worry I will be sharing this with you soon, but I didn't get to finish it. I will finish it this week, and be sure to post pictures.
Another thing I did just for me was to take my hubby out for dinner (and attempted movie) but we ended up renting a redbox and snuggling on the couch instead (which in my opinion is much better).
I also took some time to work on my book, which is really a me-time project as well.
It was a fantastic week and I am looking forward to this one. I am hosting a baby shower at my house, and can't wait. I will tell you all about it and hopefully post pictures next week.
Have a fabulous week, and don't forget to find your own "me-time" and come back and share it with me, I can always use another great way to spend my me-time.

Month of Graditude healthy habit
Today I am so thankful for a fantastic husband, let me just share with you how wonderful he is. He works hard all day, helps me with the kiddos, dinner and cleaning when he gets home, and then studies for his masters classes. He is so motivated and driven and I love it. He is so supportive of what I think I want to do, and continues to support me even when it changes. He is the level head in our relationship and is my perfect match. I don't think anyone has, can or will put up with me and my crazy the way he does and can. I am soo very grateful for him and don't know what I would do with out him in my life!!!
